Executive Producer: Ruth Ann Crystal, M.D.
Catch the Baby is the culmination of independent research Dr. Crystal has conducted over the last ten years. Dr. Crystal is a board certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist. It is during residency at Stanford that Dr. Crystal first heard Dr. Bert Johnson tell tales of wild deliveries on kitchen tables in 1950s Chicago.
Since 2000, Dr. Crystal has worked in private practice. She also enjoys teaching, medical writing and editing. Dr. Crystal is interested in health care innovation, patient engagement and good design. She has worked with multiple start up companies trying to better connect patients with their doctors. Dr. Crystal received a B.A. from U.C. Berkeley and an M.D. from Stanford University.
Producer/ Director: Katie Cadigan
Cadigan’s most recent feature documentary, HBO/Cinemax’s, People Say I’m Crazy, won international acclaim and broke ground as the first film on schizophrenia ever photographed by a person with the illness. Cadigan has served as an Adjunct Professor at Stanford University, teaching documentary film and video production. She is an advisory board member of UCLA’s Center on Media and Medicine in Community and holds an A.B from Brown University and a M.A. in Communication from Stanford University’s Documentary Film Program.
Long-time collaborators, Katie Cadigan and Laura Murray began making films together while teaching at Stanford University. The duo are currently producing and directing two feature length documentaries: When Medicine Got it Wrong, a co-production with ITVS and KQED and Predator House, a verite documentary on sex offenders recently showcased at the 2007 Independent Feature Project’s work-in-progress market.
Cinematographer: Amanda Micheli
Amanda Micheli is the 2007 Academy Award nominated director and cinematographer for La Corona, about a South American women’s prison beauty pageant. She has shot and direct highly acclaimed documentaries for over ten years, including Thin, My Flesh and Blood and Double Dare. Her first film, Just for the Ride, about the women’s Pro Rodeo circuit garnered her a student Academy Award. She received her M.A. from Harvard University and was a member of the top US women’s rugby team for over a decade.
